I’ve been enjoying getting acquainted with my Swedish ancestry and wanted to create a carving and field knife pair that would nod in that direction. They both have faceted handles derived from the slöjd tradition and two-piece sheaths derived from the Sami culture. The smaller is built on the Morakniv 120 blade in laminated steel with a birch handle and sheath. The larger is a 62mm carbon Polar blade made in collaboration by Brisa and Lauri with black walnut handle and sheath. Distressed milk paint, wax, and some very rudimentary chip carving complete the finish.
