There’s something alluring about the long, dark, snowy winters of the north. I wanted to build a puukko with that idea in mind and came up with this. The blade is a Polar in carbon steel made in collaboration by Lauri and Brisa of Finland. The handle is figured birch that’s been lightly ebonized with iron acetate and then finished off with Danish oil and wax. The spacers and butt cap are stabilized figured walnut and antler. I faceted the handle, which I’ve come to much prefer. The sheath has been ebonized and waxed as well, giving it that dark midnight blue that winter is know for.
