  • Some New Overmitts

I was finally able to finish up this pair of upcycled beaver fur gauntlet mitts over Christmas. Excited to give them a go on a trip to the North Shore in a few weeks. I deconstructed a pair of Wells-Lamont leather insulated mitts, removing the elastic cuffs and replacing the backs with some recycled shaved beaver fur. I sewed the Thinsulate fingered liners from the original mitts into a pair of blanket wool liners that are attached via a snap to make getting them on one-handed easier. They’re also a “snap” to remove and replace with other liners. I fashioned the gauntlets out of homemade waxed canvas from one of my dearest friends and camping partner. The adjustable gauntlet cinch strap can flip underneath to keep it out of the way when not needed. Finished it all off with a yarn mitten harness.
