  • Hearth Reflector

Does anyone own the hearth reflector from Snowtrekker? What are you using under your stove. Since I will shortly own more than one stove I was considering ordering a yard of aluminized fiberglass fabric and sewing my own heat reflectors. What are your thoughts?

Personally I carry a aluminum sheet, the type caterers use, and folded to fit under the stove nicely.

I collected them from parties we held. Mine have held up for about 5 years of use so far. The way I use it underneath is
    • I have two skid logs front to back of the stove extending about 8-12" past the ends of the feet.
    • On top of those I place the cookie sheet.
    • The stove goes on top of that. The sheet almost but doesn't quite make it to both stove feet on both ends. This is nice because I usually put down after the stove and pipe are all lined up.
I carry a few of more these type of sheets and I will place one on each side to hold firewood off the snow and another one leaning up against the stove to reduce the heat reaching the wall of the tent.

I just use a foil oven liner on top of a piece of reflectix, for car camping the reflectix is replaced with a piece of 1/4" ply with reflectix bonded on on side and an oven liner on the other, It's hinged so I can fold it up

Brilliant, thank you for explaining the set up, I'm a visual learner so without pics it can be difficult for me to understand but that makes perfect sense. Cheap, light, and effective!

Thank you. Looks like I'm the only one who has not figured out the foil oven liner. Funny thing is while searching for a solution I have a stack of oven liner 15 feet behind me!
