  • Need a smaller hole!

Wasn't sure to put this in tents or wood stoves.
Switching to a Four Dog Ti stove means that the hole in my Snowtrekker stove jack is too large. I really don't want to spend time making a permanent fix by sewing in a new stove jack, anyone have ideas on aquick fix to keep the draft and melting snow out?

That needs a 4" hole for a 3" dia pipe, correct? If so I have a reducer sleeve I sewn up for my snowtrekker made from the exact same material snowtrekker uses on their stove jack. I will provide pictures when I get home. You slip this on the stove jack before slipping your pipe through. It's not permanent.

I had the same problem. This is what I came up with. Attaches with just one snap.

easiest fix is to just make a collar out of 2 pieces of steel with the smaller hole cut in them, a couple of stove bolts to clamp the pieces over the fabric to make a sandwich makes it easily removable if you go to the larger sizes in the future.

I like Snowbound's set up. It's neat how it fit's inside the hole at the top and so prevents water running in to the tent. Yes. I'd thought about the old time idea of a metal collar but i would want to leave it in place when i packed up the tent and I'm not messing with bolts at -25.
            Thanks everyone for your ideas.

So I decided to sew several layers of Kevlar weld mat together to form a collar inside and outside of the existing stove jack. The collar pushes through the original pipe hole and is locates in place with no other hardware. It can be easily removed if required. Will give it a try to see how it fares.
