  • Winter Camping Rendezvous | Feb 2023

I’m looking forward to attending the Winter Camping Rendezvous for the time this coming February 3-5, 2023 at Sawmill Lake in Birchwood, WI. Feel free to share your best advice on the event…I hear it’s a good one! I’m excited to see some familiar faces from the WCS again. I’ll be making the drive northeast for the event, then connecting with my friends back in Lino Lakes for our annual trip up to Duluth and the North Shore immediately after. Looks like a good snow year so far. ❄️

Its a great time. Pretty low key. Chili dump one night & feel free to share a snack or something made as well. No pressure to really do anything. I'll be ice fishing, theres quite a few little lakes around, good snowshoeing to be had as well.

You could literally go there and not talk to anyone if you wanted or hang out with others the whole weekend, of course anything in between.

There's not a whole lot of cell phone reception there and a convenience store for bait/beer is about 30 min away.

Not hard to get there, wood can be hit or miss, locals do a decent job of supplying splits but sometimes they can be a bit too damp for our little wood stoves or too long.

I need to stop being such a reclusive hermit...........................
I'm only about an hour and a half northeast of there.

Had a blast reconnecting with many of you at the Winter Camping Rendezvous. Was somber at times, as we were missing Rhonda Reynolds, champion of the event. Thanks to all those who stepped in to help make this event happen, let alone be the largest one yet! Looking forward to what Duane and Margot and crew have in store for next year's "Rhonda-vous" at its new location. Here's a few pictures I shot during our time together. Can't wait to see many of you again in October, if not before!
