Glad to see this since winterrekking.com is gone. Was a member there but didn't post a lot. Mostly read posts. Also active on facebook traditional winter camping. Much of my winter camping is with my sled dog team. Training, touring and racing in northern Wisconsin and Michigan. Spent over 6 weeks of this past winter in the UP with the dogs.

I make much of my own gear, Have built dogsleds, sewn sled bags, tents and clothing. My wife and I are also active in pre-1820 reenactment. She does spinning, dying and other fiber arts using wool from our flock of Shetland sheep. I do blacksmithing on my forge that I built as a replica of Pvt. John Shields forge from the Lewis and Clark Expedition of Discovery. Tents include an 8x10 snowtrekker and several wedge tents. I am now in the process of making a new small wedge tent to use at war of 1812 reenactments coming up in October.👍 1Comment

I think I will learn more from the rest of you. That said, we all have different experiences and can learn by sharing them even if they may have been not so good. Mistakes in cold weather can be dangerous and these forums and events like Winter Camping Symposium and Winter Camping Rendezvous give us good opportunities to learn from each other.Comment
