  • HD's Powerhouse Oatmeal, Bariatric Friendly

I'm getting ready for a week long winter camping trip. Here's one of my favorite breakfasts, now this recipe took some time to tweak to get just right. Having a breakfast that is "just right" for me is a perfect balance of fuel, size, and being easy on my digestive system. I simply cannot handle much in the way of fat calories or simplified sugar these days, perfect for bariatric patients 😉.

BEHOLD- HD's POWERHOUSE OATS!!!!!!!!! **In an overly manly Sasquatch voice.......just kidding**

    Chocolate peanut butter flavor.

Prepare all dry ingredients in a bag or a container ahead of time, this saves on the mess.

1/2 cup of Kodiak rolled oats.
1 scoop of Premier chocolate protein powder (this is 1/2 serving)
2 tbs of PB2 peanut butter powder
1 tsp of Psyllium husk powder
1 scoop of Genepro protein concentrate (flavorless)

Bring 300ml or ~ 1.25 cups of water to boil, remove from heat and pour over contents in a bowl. Stir well and let stand for a minute or two. Enjoy!

400 calories and 60 grams of protein with necessary fiber and carbohydrates. Weighs 4.1oz per meal.

Great recipe. We’ve begun adding whey protein to our granola and oatmeal.

Thanks much, I'll have to try this out. I have been looking for a lightweight, but still hearty breakfast.
